The Sayres, Scheid & Sweeton clothing store took up residence at 28–30 East King Street in 1907, a space described by the local newspaper as “one of the handsomest in the city.” Over the course of its 82-year tenure, the 3-S store weathered everything from a disastrous fire to shifting fashions, all while remaining steadfast in its promise of high-quality garments and attentive service until its doors closed in 1995.
Following a decade of dormancy, the building was revived in 2006 as Annie Bailey’s Irish Public House, helping to reignite the energy of East King Street and contributing to Lancaster’s evolving dining and drinking scene. In November 2019, the second floor debuted as Conway Social Club—a concept designed as a refined escape from the pace of everyday life.
Today, that spirit lives on in The Conway Room. Building upon the foundation of Conway Social Club, the space has evolved into a dedicated private event venue—an intimate setting designed for gatherings that feel both elevated and personal. Whether hosting celebrations, corporate events, or special occasions, The Conway Room carries forward a legacy of thoughtful hospitality, with catering in collaboration with TFB Catering to deliver a seamless and memorable experience. Rooted in the service-forward ethos of the venerable 3-S store and inspired by global flavors, each event is brought to life with food, drink, and attention to detail that leave a lasting impression.
